Troop 309 was chartered in 1974, and since then has provided a quintessential scouting experience for all involved. Camping is our primary focus, and we have monthly campouts or outings year round. On our campouts we’ve gone rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing, skiing, shelter building, and more.

We also participate in a one to two week summer camp, where Scouts can work on a wide variety of merit badges and participate in other activities.

High Adventure

Boys thirteen and older can participate in high adventure trips, which take camping to the next level. We have backpacked at the Philmont Scout Ranch, white water rafted in Glacier National Park, canoed through the Adirondack Mountains, and sailed at Sea Base. We also participate in District wide events, such as the First Aid Meet and Camporees, and other events like the All Scout Nanotechnology event, which we organize each year.

Service

Service is also an important part of Troop 309. Our Scouts organize and participate in the St. Francis de Sales Church (our chartering organization) Gift of Love program, which sends bikes to needy children at Christmas. The Scouts fix up and clean the old, donated bikes, helping needy families and learning bike mechanics in the process. We also clean a section of adopted highway, work in the St. Francis food pantry, and more.

Rank advancement is at your own pace in Troop 309. If you want to move through the ranks and reach Eagle Scout (over 100 Troop 309 Scouts have), we will be there to help you every step of the way. If you have no interest in advancing and only want to have fun on campouts, we are still happy to have you.
